The exhibition of the ?Photographic Record of Artwork? by Juan Carlos Ferarios Chacon will see its debut tonight at the visual art gallery of the French Alliance in Costa Rica. The exhibit consists of ten different works of art created using a variety of techniques, including acrylic paints and charcoals.
According to the artist, the theme of the exhibit deals with the deterioration of society due to the bombardment of massive advertising images we are subject to with increasing intensity. The work of marketing and advertising firms is having a clear influence in our lifestyles; something that ultimately manages to leave us feeling unhappy, unsatisfied and marginalized from other segments of society. In essence, we become victims of our own doings. Mr. Ferarios collection aims to call attention to this phenomenon with his artwork.
Mr. Ferarios is a painter and graphic artist who in 2010 was the recipient of the First International Pebeo Prize for his colorful ?Vida en el Mar? (Life in the Ocean) painting. Pebeo is a French firm that is internationally renowned in artistic circles for its quality paints and graphic arts supplies. In 2010, Pebeo sponsored a contest in Costa Rica called ?New Values?, which aimed to encourage artistic creativity in audiences from 7 to 77 years. Mr. Ferarios took first place, and the director of the Costa Rica Museum of Art, Florence Urbina, described the painting as very rich in chromatic values and able to deliver a message without losing intensity.
The exhibit starts tonight at 7:00 pm at the French Alliance in Barrio Amon, San Jose. For more information, including directions, please contact the artist or visit the French Alliance home on the web, or call 2222-2283
