KARACHI?-?Abdul Hafeez Shaikh urges to change the culture of tax evasion in the supreme interest of the country.
Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has said the Government will focus on increasing income tax collection.
The Finance Minister said the Government would bring into tax-net everybody fit to pay taxes so that the country should not look towards international finance institutions for any loan or aid.
He urged to change the culture of tax evasion in the supreme interest of the country.
The Minister said in 2008? total amount of the taxes collected was eleven thousand billion rupees which was increased to twenty-two thousand three hundred billion rupees in last fiscal year. In the current financial year? twenty-one per cent increase has been achieved in taxes collection.
The Minister said around three million poor families have benefited from Benazir Income Support Programme? which has helped reduce poverty in the country.
